This is an advocacy initiative spearheaded by the MJA and press freedom advocates demanding the immediate withdrawal of criminal charges against Adhadhu CEO & Chief Editor Fayaz Moosa and Managing Editor Hassan Mohamed. We view these charges as a baseless attempt to weaponize the legal system, intimidate the press, and obstruct journalists from holding power accountable. This campaign rallies local and international support to protect the fundamental right to freedom of the press in the Maldives, ensuring no journalist is criminalized for doing their job. If convicted, they face a maximum sentence of up to 80 lashes and one year, seven months, and six days in prison.
